Aims & Scope
Matrix Biology Plus, a companion title to Matrix Biology, is an online-only, open access, peer-reviewed journal.
It offers the quality, visibility, and impact of Matrix Biology, combined with the convenience and reach of timely on-line access for the readers in the matrix biology community.
Matrix Biology Plus has a broader scope than Matrix Biology, including computational biology, biomaterials, biophysics, and bioengineering research in addition to or in combination with biology and medicine.
Matrix Biology Plus welcomes:
- Comparative and correlative studies focused on extracellular matrix and cell-matrix interactions
- New methodologies for studying extracellular matrix and cell-matrix interac-tions in health and disease
- New structural/biochemical and biophysical, biological or bioengineering models and tools (e.g., detailed description of novel transgenic mice, novel disease models, novel biomaterials, novel bioengineering devices and strat-egies focused on the matrix)
- New computational tools for matrix modeling and newly established data-bases and repositories focused on the matrix and its components
- Omics datasets that are novel, experimentally derived, descriptive, and comprehensive (e.g., proteomics, transcriptomics, genomics, metabolomics, and interactomics datasets).
However, simple analysis of published datasets or extraction from public-access databases where no further substantive ex-perimental or computational analysis is undertaken is unlikely to be deemed appropriate.
- Genomics/transcriptomic studies
- Matrix-targeted therapeutics (chemistry, engineering, fabrica-tion/manufacture, target validation, drug delivery, nanomedicine) and matrix-derived therapeutics
- Clinical and population-based studies of matrix components and disease linked mutations
